“The Marine Stewardship Council has received, and published, new data on the prevalence of shark finning in the tuna fisheries of the Parties to the Nauru Agreement (PNA) islands.
The data shows a continuing decline in the number of incidents occurring in the certified skipjack and yellowfin free-school fishery, it said. This has been an issue brought up by campaign group On the Hook, first in relation to the recertification of the PNA fishery, and then (when the recertification went ahead), in its calls for MSC reforms in general.”
